Ear Plugs for Sport Relief

If you're running for charity don't forget your ear plugsSport Relief is just round the corner and it’s your time to do something fantastic for charity. Why not dress up for the event and run the mile? Already the likes of Amir Khan, Jenson Button, David Tennant, Jo Brand, Willie Carson and Dermot O'Leary have dressed up to promote the Sport Relief Mile! A lot of fun can be had when raising money and awareness for charity with everyone cheering on each other and keeping in good spirits.

However, if you’re running more than the intended mile as part of your exercising routine while raising money, then you may need to block out the surrounding noises to beat your record time and go that extra mile.

We can hear you saying that it’s impossible to drown out the sound of screaming children and large groups of people. Well, we’re glad to say that there is a way to drown out the racket and to productively use that time to concentrate on the run. At All Ear Plugs, strangely enough, we believe that ear plugs could hold the answer to your woes.

The beauty of noise reduction ear plugs is that they don’t block out sounds, they simply reduce the level of noise you can hear. When you’re running you don’t want to block out sounds completely as you need to keep your wits about you especially when it comes to being aware of the traffic around you. Ear plugs like Proguard Noizezz Universal Ear Plugs are ideal for you to wear when running the Sport Relief Mile as you will be able to drown out the distracting noises, while being aware of your surroundings and enabling you to concentrate on beating your record time.

Sports Relief

Between 23rd and 25th March, people across the country will be coming together to get active, raise money and change the lives of thousands of people, all in the name of Sports Relief. It is a noteworthy cause that helps people in the UK and those in the poorest of countries transform their lives for the better. Over the course of one year pledges to Comic Relief (the recipients of Sports Relief donations) have provided over 50,000 people living in slums with clean and safe water.

Projects that have seen donations transform lives in the UK include Women’s Aid Federation England (WAFE), Association for Young People’s Health, Social Spider CIC and many others. Abroad, your money has helped save lives and improve living conditions for many families. In Sierra Leone's city slums, Unisa, a father of a sick family would frequently have to make the decision of either buying the necessary medicine for his ill child or feed the rest of his family. With your donations, Sports Relief workers were able to build new wells and ensure they're hygienic and chlorinated. Now Unisa and his family have clean and safe drinking water on their doorstep.

Getting Involved

Running the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is a great way to help raise money. If you’re interested, take a look at the website and see where the closest starting point is for you. There are hundreds of Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events taking place across the country and whether you want to run one, two, three or six miles, you will be able to do it with a smile on your face, knowing it’s all for a good cause. Secure your place on the 25th March, by searching for the nearest location and sign up on the website. It only costs £6 an adult, £3 a child or £15 for a family of four and is a great way of getting sponsored and raising money.

Benefits: Fitness, push yourself and go that extra mile. All the support and encouragement you need to go that little further is all in the knowledge that for every mile, more money is raised.

There are plenty of fundraising events that you can take part in. Why not hold a bake sale at work or take part in a jumble sale? Get your creative caps on and see what you could do for charity.

Benefits: Seeing the joy on people’s faces once they taste your scrumptious goodies or knowing that you have been able to remove your unwanted items from the garage with all proceeds going to charity.

Tips for running the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile

If you’re running the mile make sure you have plenty of water with you to keep you and your family hydrated. If you’re taking part in the event as a fun part of your exercise routine, bring along some ear plugs with you. By simply inserting a pair of noise reduction ear plugs you will be able to drown out the noise and concentrate on running the mile or two (maybe six) in record time. However, more importantly have fun; this is a great event where people come together in high spirits to help those in need.

Christmas diets – How to accomplish the most out of your gym sessions

Christmas is edging closer, which means it’s almost time to gorge our faces with delicious food, scrumptious puddings and plenty of chocolate, not to mention the consumption of wine and champagne. For the majority of us, the time before and after the biggest annual event in our calendar is spent watching what we eat and exercising more often.

If this sounds like you and are already hitting the gym hard you know all too well how noisy this environment can be. People are encouraging each other loudly, speaking as if they’re in the military; “five more press ups”, “two more minutes”, “keep going”, you get the idea. Then you have the noise of heavy machinery, that irritating sound of people who believe it’s a great idea to sing aloud and the heavy footed person on the treadmill. All you want to do is keep to yourself, do what you came to do, work up a sweat and then leave, but you can’t because of all these distractions.

A gym membership for a lot of people can be seen as a luxury and if you’re unable to accomplish what you want out of it, then it can be seen to be a waste of money. However, where there’s a will there’s a way and at All Ear Plugs we believe we hold the answer to your predicament. By simply inserting some noise reduction ear plugs you can experience a whole new way of exercising, a quiet way. When you’re surrounded by near enough silence you’re able to concentrate more on what you’re doing and how you’re doing it. Improvements can easily be accomplished when you put your mind to it and have no distractions, which is what our noise reduction ear plugs can offer you.

With the help of these ear plugs your ambitions are sure to be met and you’ll be able to eat and drink whatever takes your fancy without feeling guilt. It’s most certainly going to be a merry Christmas.

The significance of wearing ear plugs

Wearing ear plugs can be said to stem from a variety of reasons, the most common being protecting your ears from infections, another is to prevent water from entering the ear canal and causing irritation, however, the most significant reason is to prevent hearing damage and impairment.

According to Deafness Research UK; “The deterioration of the ear which accompanies ageing still leaves more than half of all people over the age of 60 with a hearing impairment, and an increasing number of young people have their hearing permanently damaged through exposure to loud noise: usually music.”

If you’re a fan of music and attend festivals or concerts, you should take a pair of musician ear plugs with you. The beauty of these ear plugs is that they block harmful noises, whilst letting you listen to the music you came to hear, but more audibly.

There are many other situations where hearing damage can occur including: at work, when riding a motorbike and living by road works. No matter the situation, there is an ear plug that can help prevent damage to your hearing. Noise reduction ear plugs are often used when noise levels are high and at All Ear Plugs you’ll find a fantastic selection that offers a wide range of noise reduction ratings. Most of the noise reduction earplugs are waterproof too, which is ideal for those who practise aquatic sports and wish to prevent infections such as swimmer’s ear.

•    Ear plugs don’t block out ALL of the sound, but can reduce noise pollution effectively.
•    Custom fit ear plugs provide the best in comfort and are generally the most discrete. However, depending on the circumstance they’re not necessarily the best option.

Preparation for the 5th November

Protect your ears with ear plugs this bonfire nightRemember, remember the 5th of November. This is a phrase we all know and love, it reminds of the story of Guy Fawkes and his mission to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Every year we take to the parks or our back gardens to burn a bonfire and catch the glimpse of fireworks taking to the skies. Some bonfire nights also attract the likes of fair grounds, hot food and drink stands and children gathered together in a circle with their sparklers.

We wrap ourselves up nice and warm; woolly hats, scarves wrapped tightly round our necks and a heavy coat to combat harsh winds. However, there is one part of our bodies that isn’t protected, our ears. Yes, some fluffy ear muffs will keep them nice and warm, but what about the noises coming from the exploding fireworks?

It’s a known fact that noises louder than 80dB are considered dangerous for our hearing and once it’s gone, that’s it. So don’t run the risk of hearing damage, why not dress your ears with some ear plugs – you can put your fluffy ear muffs over the top if you wish!

You may think wearing a pair of ear plugs is a bit excessive when it comes to bonfire night, but fireworks are extremely loud, 140dB in fact! That’s louder than an amplified rock concert and emits the same level of noise as a rifle being fired 1 metre away.

Seeing fireworks is a spectacle and something the whole family is in awe of seeing, but this experience can be ruined if you experience pain and discomfort in your ears.

If you want to come prepared this bonfire night, we recommend you come armed with a pair of noise reduction ear plugs. They’re also available to bulk order, which is ideal if you’re bringing family and friends with you.
