Sports Relief

Between 23rd and 25th March, people across the country will be coming together to get active, raise money and change the lives of thousands of people, all in the name of Sports Relief. It is a noteworthy cause that helps people in the UK and those in the poorest of countries transform their lives for the better. Over the course of one year pledges to Comic Relief (the recipients of Sports Relief donations) have provided over 50,000 people living in slums with clean and safe water.

Projects that have seen donations transform lives in the UK include Women’s Aid Federation England (WAFE), Association for Young People’s Health, Social Spider CIC and many others. Abroad, your money has helped save lives and improve living conditions for many families. In Sierra Leone's city slums, Unisa, a father of a sick family would frequently have to make the decision of either buying the necessary medicine for his ill child or feed the rest of his family. With your donations, Sports Relief workers were able to build new wells and ensure they're hygienic and chlorinated. Now Unisa and his family have clean and safe drinking water on their doorstep.

Getting Involved

Running the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile is a great way to help raise money. If you’re interested, take a look at the website and see where the closest starting point is for you. There are hundreds of Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile events taking place across the country and whether you want to run one, two, three or six miles, you will be able to do it with a smile on your face, knowing it’s all for a good cause. Secure your place on the 25th March, by searching for the nearest location and sign up on the website. It only costs £6 an adult, £3 a child or £15 for a family of four and is a great way of getting sponsored and raising money.

Benefits: Fitness, push yourself and go that extra mile. All the support and encouragement you need to go that little further is all in the knowledge that for every mile, more money is raised.

There are plenty of fundraising events that you can take part in. Why not hold a bake sale at work or take part in a jumble sale? Get your creative caps on and see what you could do for charity.

Benefits: Seeing the joy on people’s faces once they taste your scrumptious goodies or knowing that you have been able to remove your unwanted items from the garage with all proceeds going to charity.

Tips for running the Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile

If you’re running the mile make sure you have plenty of water with you to keep you and your family hydrated. If you’re taking part in the event as a fun part of your exercise routine, bring along some ear plugs with you. By simply inserting a pair of noise reduction ear plugs you will be able to drown out the noise and concentrate on running the mile or two (maybe six) in record time. However, more importantly have fun; this is a great event where people come together in high spirits to help those in need.

Become a tennis pro with the help of ear plugs

Tennis seems to be the biggest sporting trend of summer 2011, which could all be down to this year’s explosive Wimbledon tournament. Already the UK has seen an increase in demand for tennis coaching lessons with many hoping one day they can bring home the Wimbledon title.

In tennis, like many racket sports physical fitness and a clear focus is extremely important, especially when wanting to win that vital match point. When starting out you need to channel all this energy and always remain focused on the shot coming back. However, if you’re training among many other hopefuls there can be a lot of distractions.

With a pair of noise reduction ear plugs you’ll be able to minimise the noise level, which allows you to concentrate on the game and perfect that all important back hand. What’s even better, when you wear these ear plugs you will still be able to hear your coaches instructions.

At All Ear Plugs there is a great range of noise reduction ear plugs that are ideal for tennis players and other sport fans. We recommend you try a pair of:

•    Macks Ultra Safe Sound Ear Plugs
•    Macks Safe Sound Ultra Ear Plugs
•    Macks Ear Seals Ear Plugs
•    Hearplugz-DF Earplugs

These ear plugs can also be worn by squash players who are easily distracted by the loud sounds emitted from playing this intense sport. Physical fitness is extremely important when it comes to sports, but without a high level of concentration your game can easily slip through your fingers.

The Ryder Cup

Golf is normally such a relaxing and mellow sport with a few cheers here and there from spectators. However, with the Ryder Cup it seems everyone is hungry to make a lot of noise whenever a birdie or par is scored. There has been some amazing action over the weekend and Team Europe winning against Team America by 3 points, and today is the last day for America to try and gain a leading score.

With the competition and the action heating up, so are the noise levels. Titanium golf clubs are twice as loud as the regular steel ones, with some even producing levels of sound on par with a gunshot or firecracker. So when wanting to get that long drive when playing or when you are watching McIroy and Westwood putt a winner, ear plugs are an essential item to have in your golf bag. When playing golf, not only will they protect your hearing every time you swing they will also help with your concentration as well.
